Directions from Sheffield Station
Within the train station (past platform 8, towards the rear) there is a tram stop. Board the ‘Blue Route’ tram and alight at the ‘University of Sheffield’ tram stop, after about 10 minutes. The fare should be £1.70 and there is no student discount. This is the most convenient way to get to university.
Leave the railway station and go diagonally right towards the bus station. The 120 and 95 buses stop near the University. The fare is £1 with a valid student card.
Walking takes about 25 minutes and passes through the town centre. The simplest route is probably to go past Sheffield Hallam, up Surrey Street, across Barker’s Pool and along Division Street.
We have provisionally booked a number of twin rooms at the Ibis Hotel, Sheffield City. The hotel is a 20 minute walk, or a 10 minute tram ride away from the Hicks Building. Participants with funded accommodation will be offered accommodation in this hotel.
If you would like to book somewhere different, here are several options close to the University. Please note that if you book other accommodation we cannot guarantee to provide funding for this.
More or less on the doorstep of the Hicks Building and also quite cheap. Be warned: the Harley is also a live music venue.
Approximately 10 minutes away from the Hicks building and also reasonably priced.
